Power
Quality
The degree
to which the use and delivery of electricity affects
the performance of electrical equipment is referred
to as “power quality.” This can be evaluated
at the source, at the electrical entrance to your
facility, within the wiring of your building, and
at the equipment location, i.e., where your computers,
light fixtures, and other devices are plugged in.
The quality
of the electrical power you receive and the way it
is distributed affects how well your equipment works,
how safe it is to operate, and ultimately, how much
it costs. Power surges, brownouts, and improperly
installed or grounded equipment can result in expensive
corrections and even hazardous conditions. Computers,
telephone systems, and their networks are critically
susceptible to damage from electrical irregularities.
When one link in the power chain is malfunctioning,
the entire network is affected.
